Partnership
with the Cardinals
Christian Family Day is the first of its kind.
In fact when Judy Boen the founder and chairman
of Christian Family Day approached in 1990,
the St. Louis Cardinals they turned her down.
They could not envision baseball and Christianity
as a profitable combination. Judy remembered
the success that Six Flags Over Mid-America
has had over the years with their Christian
events and encouraged the Cardinals to investigate
in their success. Six Flags assured the Cardinals
that it was worth the effort and the Cardinals
allowed Judy and her young committee a chance
for the first Christian Family Day. Little did
Judy know she had a connection with the Vice
President of Marketing, Marty Hendin. When she
shared her love of baseball and her favorite
player, Wally Moon at her planning meeting with
the Cardinals, Marty took notice. He told Judy
his favorite player was also Wally Moon and
the friendship was formed. With Judy's friendly
personality and the Moon connection the Cardinals
and Christian Family Day formed a partnership
that has thrived over the years. 16 years has
passed and Christian Family Day is still the
highest ticket-grossing day of the year. As
they say the, "The rest is history."
